Concert: Sweet Thing

Oh. My. Gosh.

The Sweet Thing show was balls to the wall!

They so live up to their name. I’d put my metal up if lead singer Owen didn’t insist I put my hands together. What a celebration of all things rock and or roll. This band goes to 11.

I can’t believe how good they are now…ideed: “They’re gonna rock this land/They’re gonna take this itty bitty world by storm/And they’re just gettin warm.” That’s not even prophecy, that’s just stating the obvious like when you say the sky is blue.

I’d been to many shows before as they’ve slowly matured, evolved and began to harness all that dense potential. Finally. When their album drops in July I can’t wait to see it explode.

The new songs are sonic-bullies that grab you by the lapels, slap each of your cheeks demanding you dance. Ha! Actually the new single is called Dance Motherfucker. How appropriate.

Alright: I’m in. Where they go…I’ll go. I’m in. I’ll buy the albums, go to the concerts and even throw my underwear up on stage. Ok…maybe I’m too in…

My only fear is the record company failing to recognize the value of what they have. Please, please, please don’t assign them a basic and boring Canadian tour to support the album. Pack up this band and go first to Europe.

They got just a touch of Franz Ferdinand that they’ll find fans and enough showmanship moxy to convert the stalwarts. Have the gumption to do something different: don’t waste this Awesome Sound.

The sound is bold so the marketing plan should be equally bold. Let’s hope for the best.
