Morning Tea: The Suicide Squad Wrapped

The Suicide Squad has wrapped: according to James Gunn’s IG.

The movie arrives on August 6, 2021.

I ain’t giving money I earned to Birds Of Prey; I’ma Netflix that hard.

Wonder Woman 1984 maybe but not opening weekend dollars for true.

So I’d come back to DC Films with…this movie? A weird full circle.

DCFilms’ 2021 is looking like…

Black Adam

For the most part…these are not worth pants. I ain’t willing to sit through Aquaman 2 either.

Morning Tea: Aquaman’s Hand

Ah classic Aquaman when he lost his hand replacing it with a harpoon.

Luke Skywalker knows this pain all too well.

This is like when Thor lost his whole arm.

Morning Tea: Birds of Prey Clickbait

I’m presenting this so we have a record of how bad our journalism has gotten…and continues to dig into levels below rock bottom. (Especially comic book journalism. Keep a lot of the noise and nonsense on Reddit, yo!)

Can Raptors Buck The Odds?

Did you end up watching the Bucks-Raptors game last night? Buck won: 108 to 97.

Morning Tea: Star Trek: Voyager Documentary

Star Trek: Picard isn’t working.

It’s partly the cheap Millennialization (which is frustrating because it’s not for you. On this point I side with the gatekeepers).

Tragically Picard may end up in the collection of Star Trek failures: Enterprise and Discovery. Good writing is good writing. So yeah it’s fairly easy to classify them as failures.

Such a waste.

Hopefully whatever follows Picard is much better in execution and most especially deftly avoids corny writing. Just because Discovery and Picard are weak doesn’t erase hope…yet.

There’s a lot…a lot they can do in this universe that is compelling and intelligent: we’ll have to see if the producers have the courage and the talent to execute well. So we wait.

For now I believe in Bono’s line from God Part II:
You glorify the past
When the future dries up

Morning Tea: Checking In With the Sixers

Not good news for the Sixers.

Today’s WOJ Bomb is: “ESPN Sources: Sixers star Ben Simmons is still undergoing treatment and evaluation on his back and there’s expected to be a course of action decided upon soon. This isn’t a day-to-day injury; Simmons will miss time. How much time? That’s still unclear.”

Especially now because Embiid has no one to blame when things falter.

That puts the NBA East in a 3 way dog-fight: Raptors, Celtics and Heat.

Toronto and Miami meet on April 14 though the bigger test is 3 more Raptors games vs Bucks starting tomorrow. Oh Boy.

For a better picture of the NBA East as we hurtle towards the NBA Playoffs…

#SetTheVCR: February 23-29, 2020

So ah… most of what I suggest this week are documentaries. Except for Annabelle Comes Home. I really hope that is not a documentary.
