Back Issue Bloodbath #57: Wonder Woman by Rucka

As familiar as Spider-Man’s theme song…
“In your satin tights,
Fighting for your rights
And the old Red, White and Blue.

Wonder Woman, Wonder Woman.
Now the world is ready for you,
and the wonders you can do.

Make a hawk a dove,
Stop a war with love,
Make a liar tell the truth.

Wonder Woman,
Get us out from under, Wonder Woman.
All our hopes are pinned upon you.
And the magic that you do.”

Classic late 70s cheeze…that was then; this is now. Wonder Woman by Greg Rucka, Liam Sharp & Nicola Scott.

I’m constantly surprised and grateful for the fantastic opportunities that come my way. Since high school I’ve set out to be creative (code for I want to play everyday) and not be bound by medium. I’ve recently been offered to co-host Back Issue Bloodbath a Geek Hard podcast focusing on comics. Basically over adult beverages we get into it…talking about issues (in every sense of the word). Magic!!

I got miles to go crafting my audio voice…writing now that I can Fight Club anybody and win. So I’m thankful for this challenge to shine skillz that pay the billz.

If this at all interests you (or other benevolent nerds in your life) subscribe on itunes/google play. This sucker is gonna heat up like Jiffy Pop!

My first episode is below…thanks for reading. As You Were.

In this episode of Back Issue Bloodbath I surprise the gents with a wild and crazy about Black Science! Which is totally different than Weird Science: thankfully (or sadly) we did not have to wear bras on our heads.

Back Issue Bloodbath #56: A Tribute to Steve Dillon

From the Geek Hard website: “This week, Andrew and Sammy take a look back on the career of another great comic creator that left this world far too soon: Steve Dillon.

Steve passed away on October 22nd of this year due to complications from a ruptured appendix. A fantastic artist that was able to convey personal emotions and cinematic sensibilities in his work, Dillon got his first big break in comics drawing the Hulk Weekly Magazine for Marvel UK. He would eventually make his way across the Atlantic and work for DC, Marvel and more. He is best remembered for his for his collaborations with writer Garth Ennis on Hellblazer, Preacher and Punisher. He has become synonymous with Frank Castle as his take on The Punisher has become iconic in the eyes of the fans.”

Back Issue Bloodbath #55: Creator vs. Character

Fresh New Episode! I so wish we had more time with this topic as I view myself as a fan and a creator so I understood both POVs. In comics why are the champs champs and why do some superheroes end up with participation awards?

Why do characters like Spider-Man and Batman earn readers’ respect, draw the biggest creators while other less fortunate superheroes toil, constant origin revisions.

Yo…#BackIssueBloodbath!

RTZ: Under President Trump Reading is Fundamental: A Fiction Action List

Sammy Younan

Girth Radio Presents…

I wrote about the how mainstream media was sloppier than a sloppy joe in the Non-Fiction Action List. Here is the Fiction Action List. Fiction is way scarier than Non-Fiction. It’s one thing to know or understand something; that’s what Non-Fiction books do but you have to take that idea to its logical conclusion. (If you’re wrestling with the writer is “wrong” then you’ve missed the point entirely. Pass Go and don’t collect $200). Fiction takes the rationales we operate under…the ideas we explore to a logical conclusion; novels are hypotheticals rooted in real life.

RTZ: Under President Trump Reading is Fundamental: A Non-Fiction Action List

Sammy Younan

Girth Radio Presents…

One of the primary storylines from the past week is how the mainstream media sucks (truthfully media never recovered going online…the news wasn’t gonna slow down long enough for them to figure out an online business strategy. Anybody who has madcap dashed through a busy airport to catch their departing flight understands that stress.)

There’s a handful of writers who’ve got fantastic non-fiction books that deal with many of the tough topics and trendy themes people are grappling with. And for the most part I haven’t seen these writer interviewed or quoted which is painfully sloppy journalism. Again.
