All Gone

Walking down Yonge Street approaching a McDonalds as a Mom and her kid emerge from the restaurant.

The kid with those small Industrial Revolution perfect hands was fumbling with his jacket zipper while trying to grip an orange balloon and keep up with his mom. Successfully he pulls the zipper up but the balloon was sacrificed. He and I look up and watch the Heavens and all of God’s glorious splendor embrace the bright orange rubber gift.

Before he could cry; his mom cuts him off: “It’s gone; it’s never coming back. You need to learn how to let things go.” She roughly grips his forearm and drags him forward; figuring he would only slow her down.

On April 18, 2018 at 12:19pm I witnessed that kid’s childhood come to a sudden and abrupt end.
