Every movie trailer answers or challenges those 2 questions. The ham-fisted rebuttal comes swiftly, however: no you don’t need to always see a movie to know it’s tank.

Do you really need to sit through a Michael Bay Transformers movie to know for sure? Tank is Tank. And Fresh…well Fresh is always Fresh. I’m down like I’m Brown for that.

Sammy Verdict: 100% OUT. No Way. That sounds awful.

Where’d You Go, Bernadette (January 9)
Where’d You Go, Bernadette is the latest from Richard Linklater; opens March 22. So that’s interesting.

Sammy Verdict: I could sit through this. Super simple, not expecting much.

Cliffs Of Freedom (January 9)
Just for this tagline alone “Every revolution begins in the heart” I’m 100% OUT.

Sammy Verdict: No way I’m watching Cliffs Of Freedom. And I paid for most of Michael Bay’s Transformers!

Cold War (January 10)
Cold War is a “passionate love story set against the background of the Cold War in 1950s Poland…” blah blah blah: I’m out. Out January 25.

Sammy Verdict: I already saw The End of the Affair so I’m good thanks.

The Punisher: Season 2 (January 10)
The Punisher: Season 2 now THAT is ruckus! Even Ice-T would be impressed with this Body Count. The punishment begins on January 18 on Netflix.

Sammy Verdict: Team Ruckus reporting for duty. In!

Sammy Davis, Jr.: I’ve Gotta Be Me (January 10)
Yooo just found out there’s a Sammy Davis, Jr. documentary! American Masters!

All those Vegas Rat Pack-ers…deeply talented, transformed our pop culture, unapologetic swagger. We could use that right now…

Sammy Verdict: Here it is…Fresh!

Lorena (January 10)
Good news for those who cut the cord: Amazon Prime’s latest is Lorena a four-part series debuting on February 15 based on (of course!) Lorena Bobbitt….a cut above most American scandals even if it’s not all cut and dried.

Sammy Verdict: I’m Out: this didn’t make the cut!

IO (January 10)
IO is Netflix’s latest sci-fi contribution…Anthony Mackie is a bit frowzy so this is a bit eh…I’ll give it at least 20 minutes on January 18.

Sammy Verdict: I’m in the mood for a rock-solid-sci-fi-ruckus-all-darkness-no hope-thriller.

1922 (January 11)
#TrailerAlert or maybe a #SetTheVCR? Did I know this? 1922 is a 2017 Netflix movie based on
Stephen King’s novella. I’ll give it 20 minutes of attention this weekend.

Sammy Verdict: Stephen King books to movies…now that is scary!
