A Star Wars Tourist

My Comic Book Dealer tossed in Darth Vader #1 and #2 into the monthly mix since I enjoyed Jason Aaron’s Star Wars. Sigh. On it goes…

Darth Vader #1 and 2 are fun! I dug em more than Star Wars. Vader is written by Kieron Gillen with outstanding art by Salvador Larroca. (He actually employs some sweet body language so even with Vader’s mask you get a sense of what he’s thinking or “feeling” if Vader feels at all.)

I do wish there was a way to visually incorporate the iconic breathing sound though. I hadn’t fully realized how iconic sounding Star Wars was until I read the “silent” comic books. My other birthday wish is more movies sound this good.

And as much as I dig Mark Waid I ain’t reading Star Wars: Princess Leia. Leia’s a chump; so is Luke. Even as a kid they both bored me. Vader is always fresh.

I struggle with Star Wars as movie. There…I said it. I don’t enjoy the Star Wars world. The planets are dumb, not into any of the aliens. I like the Force and lightsabers. S’about it. I guess overall Star Wars has had minimal impact on my imagination. It’s almost like it’s boring. Or meh.

Yet here I am avidly reading the Marvel comics and enjoying myself. Truly this is world is filled with wonder.
