In League With Fireworks

Every so often the universe aligns with perfect timing. Yesterday I’d started the day firing up Zack Snyder’s Justice League. Only I had no intention of sitting there for 4 hours.

It was Sunday there was a nap involved; March Madness games…Oral Roberts OMG with emphasis on the G! What’s happening!!, Blake Griffin’s debut on the Nets, The Simpsons‘ 700th episode…point is there was a lot going on but it was Sunday and I had nowhere to go and wasn’t all that inspired to put on pants.

Eventually I got to the end of Justice League: a decent accomplishment for somebody who didn’t contribute anything to society all day.

I was fast forwarding the credits…why? I dunno after 4 hours everything’s been said there better not be a post-credits scene. When suddenly fireworks went off.
It was after midnight: 12:30-am but I felt proud having successfully consumed a 4 hour movie.

Fireworks were appropriate: Damn Straight. Celebrate me.

As the fireworks sparked spilling light all over the night sky I got to the end of the credits and the movie was fully done. I could see out my window bright exploding green lights and that loud pop like an action movie gunshot.

It was Sunday night…not sure if it was an ethnic holiday, bored drunks kids, perhaps a wedding. Or perhaps it really was just recognizing me: I did it!

I leaned back on the couch; looking out the window and for one more time that day enjoyed the show.
