Hip hop’s origins are explored in a 4 part dynamic television docu-series on HBO…like the Genesis beginning or rap (actually not even rap…it wasn’t anything when it first started). Kool Herc, Afrika Bambaataa and Grandmaster Flash beginnings. Not to fret though (OUR golden era…Tribe, De La etc. appear in the third episode. Yes!).

Hip-Hop Evolution premieres on HBO Canada on Sunday, 9 PM and airs every Sunday for 4 weeks:

Everybody is in this: Russell Simmons, LL Cool J, Darryl “DMC” McDaniels, Chuck D, Ice Cube, Ice T plus many more. So Fresh Soul Fresh.

And if you’re wondering (as I did) how does a white guy from just outside Windsor, ONT (director Darby Wheeler) and a stand up comedian from Brampton, ONT (Russell Peters) end up telling the story of Hip Hop’s origins as hosted by a rapper from London, ONT (Shad K)?
