Movie: The Imitation Game
As per tradition I went to check out a movie on January 1st. This is probably the last time I do that. January 1st used to be still life like an ancient painting. Everybody was out. Rude! It’s a byproduct of the 24/7 capitalist lifestyle: what we’ve reaped from sowing. Sigh. One tradition ends, another begins?
Thoughts…
Benedict Cumberbatch is the new Johnny Depp recycling the same character in every movie. (To be fair Depp had an established formula for his weirdos and once he left it behind he began to falter. Cumberbatch has no clear formula…yet?). It’s getting predictable which is code for being boring.
…
“Sometimes it is the people no one imagines anything of who do the things that no one can imagine.” The key melody of the movie, an infectious hook. And while that’s true I oddly enjoyed the subplot of the flick: that genius is hard to explain to you people. Teachers, church even parents are quick to judge, to dismiss ideas, people. People fall short of established ideals and get punished for it. I don’t care if you agree with me or disagree with me as Bobby Brown says that’s your prerogative. What I cannot stand, what I loathe is failure to be understood. That’s beyond irritating. And it’s not always my fault, sometimes certain types of people cannot grasp certain types of truth.
