My Summer Lair Chapter #191: Did You Hear The One About Racism?
Those dynamic conversations where the speakers fluctuate between the silly and the serious. As prompted by the material in Simon’s excellent stand up special As Good As Or Better Than we stagger like happy drunks between the debilitating effects of racism to the humorous aspects of well…racism.
Sometimes racism is funny. It’s weird to say but it makes sense because anything naturally rooted in ignorance is going to be funny. Ignorance is humorous.
Comedian Simon King tweeted: “Stupid people’s super power is that they’re too stupid to know they aren’t smart. Which is pretty impressive. I’m just smart enough to know I’m not smart and it’s a fresh hell daily. I’m jealous of their dumb privilege.”
So good! The comedy special As Good As Or Better Than totally lives up to its title; see for yourself for free on Youtube. But first to give you a flavour of what you can expect here’s my conversation with comic Simon King about his comedy special As Good As Or Better Than.
