I’ve been meeting with bands lately. Sometimes in bars, sometimes in their homes.

Talking with them, trying to understand their ambitions…getting the unique opportunity to meet them as individuals and not just as The Drummer. The Lead Singer. (Is that how normally people see bands? I would think most people want to meet Thom Yorke rather than Radiohead’s Drummer…at least it’d make for a more interesting story).

The bands are letting me into their worlds. And so far it’s been fun and smooth. So far.

Yet without fail every time this happens Lester Bangs’ Almost Famous scene echoes in my head (I use this longer clip since it’s really the trailer of my life):

Heh…Industry Of Cool. As far as I know…I’ve never been cool. Have you?
