Hidden Gem: Cults “High Road”

Sammy Younan

Girth Radio Presents…

The drums quickly establish a groove and by the time we get to the smooth voice we suddenly have a Summer Anthem.

It’s got a California sound. Living on the East coast, I rarely get to see the Ocean. Which makes the time I spend with the Ocean so precious.

You get to the beach early enough you see the surfers trying to tame wild waves.
Surfers give way to tourists and locals, soaking up Sunshine and happily being lazy.
As the Sun sets, the day cools lovers emerge to prowl the beach, hand in hand, often eating ice cream and making plans.

And through this ebb and flow, this tide of humanity the Ocean remains a constant.

I like how the Sun dazzles and dances on the still water.
I like the roar of the waves crashing.
I miss the ocean.

None of this, I suppose has anything to do with a song about relationships.

“No one really knows
who’s house you’re haunting
Places that you go
are a mystery to me
Every time you leave here
I’m keeping quiet
I guess that’s all you want from me.”

Meh, it’s all one large tapestry.
