Happy Purge Day!

(Fictionally) The Purge has been rolling along since 2017 though in the first movie (Ethan Hawke) that Purge was on March 21, 2022.

I’ve seen all the movies AND the TV show. (Yes it’s my fault they keep making these dumb movies. I also funded all the Final Destinations. Paid for all of them at the cinema. Children of the Corn…s are 11 movies deep. That’s not on me…I dunno who is funding those.)

That Purge movie came out in 2013 and imagined 2022 as violent class warfare with America ruled by a totalitarian political party.

Which is nutty nuts because Soylent Green came out in 1973 and that too was set in 2022…same jam: class warfare with America ruled by a totalitarian political party.

(That’s a slightly different “purge” since “Soylent Green is people!” I dunno how that won’t give you an upset tummy…)

Seems filmmakers weren’t terribly optimistic about 2022. “May God be with you all.”
