Hidden Gem: Zella Day “1965”

Sammy Younan

Girth Radio Presents…

It is utterly criminal how this emotionally dense song isn’t featured in a movie. (Zella’s Sacrifice was used in Insurgent…file that under “when good songs are used in bad movies”).

A few listens inspired the following stream of consciousnesses…

And I recognized The Traveler
by his loneliness
a man out of time
a man not of this world
a man who came to heal
but could not be healed
His open hand an extended invitation
to see the stars
traverse unseen moons
race through history
while creating our history
I understood the trailer
like it was prophetic
and accepted the pain
but how would it all end?
What would be the end for me?
Never for him; just me
Having touched my life
The Traveler would depart
for new skies:
while I would continue to live under the same sky I’ve always known
My remaining days: Hello Sun, Goodbye Moon
Leaving me with the one thing he was most willing to share
his
loneliness
