From The Mailbox: Q: “If you had lime in a coconut but couldn’t shake it all up, how upset would you be?”

Nicole wrote in to ask: “If you had lime in a coconut but couldn’t shake it all up, how upset would you be?”

A:
Oh that’s irritating, like sand in my underwear irritating. I know that’s a first world problem so thankfully there’s a first world solution!

You put your right hand in,
You put your right hand out,
You put your right hand in,
And you shake it all about,

You do the hokey pokey
and you turn yourself around
That what it’s all about.

I find singing The Hokey Pokey in reaction to all of life’s problems is a defiant stance, it’s a song about refusing to be broken in the face of adversity and intimidating odds.

It’s Eye of the Tiger on Red Bull.

Equally potent anything by KC and the Sunshine band and Boney M.

So I will be upset, but I will not be broken. Because I believe in the hokey pokey…and that’s what it’s all about.
