Yo…anybody call the Stranger Things phone number?

I was startled in Season 3 (episode 5) when Hopper said a real phone number…since the 60s we’ve been cinema-conditioned with 555 phone numbers.

I paused the episode and googled it and yup…it is indeed a real phone number…Stranger Things marketing.

Back in 2016 to promote the first Stranger Things season at 5 subway stations including one I frequent Netflix…or perhaps the Hawkins National Laboratory had phones set up and they would randomly ring. I was nearby a couple of times when the phone rang…I did not pick it up.

A) cowards live longer and 2) really based on Will’s “unwise” bowl haircut I felt he and later Barbara another garish haircut deserved to be left in the Upside-Down. Toss in Mrs. Wheeler’s gaudy bathing suit as well before closing the gate.

If you call lemme know how it works out for you…though for a show based on the 80s I’m sad the number isn’t eight six seven five three oh nine. Our modern lives are defined by what we don’t do as much as what we do.
